Italian Fest Exhibition

Sept. 1 – Oct. 7, 2018

Collinsville Library

 408 West Main Street

For Italian Fest’s 35th Anniversary, we’re pulling out all the stops to bring you one of our best exhibits yet!

Come with us for a walk BEHIND THE SCENES – on a photographic journey through Italy’s twenty regions to see the unusual and the unknown.

You’ll marvel at mysterious stone carvings in Lombardia and the submerged bronze statue on the Italian Riviera. You’ll see tiny Trulli houses, the “Bikini girls” mosaic, marble quarries, ornate masks, unique customs, amazing festivals — and learn an unusual way to avoid bad luck.

You’ll travel from the mountains to the sea and everywhere in between.  And each region’s photo will tell its story as you immerse yourself in this wonderful country called Italy.

Here for a limited time only!  Free admission.

Italian Night at the Movies

(Questione Di Karma)

Thurs., Sept. 20 (6 p.m.)

Library’s Community Room

Don’t miss Italian Film Night on Sept. 20.  Come early for a taste of gelato (Italian ice cream).  Then sit back, relax, and enjoy the 2017 award-winning, Italian comedy IT’S ALL ABOUT KARMA by Edoardo Falcone.  (It was one of the audience favorites at the 2018 Italian Film Festival in St. Louis.)

Plot:  Giacomo is an eccentric heir to an industrial dynasty, but he’d rather spend his days lost in hobbies than run a business.  He’s led to believe that the reincarnation of his late father can be found in Mario Pitagora, a man far from being spiritual, interested only in money and heavily in debt. This encounter will change the lives of both.

A RAI Film (Rome, Italy).  Length:  90 min.  In Italian with English subtitles.  Not rated by the MPAA.  Rated PG in Australia.  Free admission.

Gelato compliments of Spirito’s, The Italian Store on Main Street.
